More Anderson Adventures

After driving down from Mt. Washington, we had time for Mommy to get in some exercise and run to a little waterfall. I forget the name of it but it was worth the hike to see it. Then, it was off to lunch and a quick trip to the boarder of Maine and New Hampshire.
It's true, we did make it to Maine. We were there for about 2 minutes. Unfortunately, we did not have an extra day to explore like we would have loved to do. I think a Maine trip will have to be added to our future plans. There's the proof! :)
After our quick trip to Maine, we headed to Cathedral Ledge for an afternoon of climbing. The granite was beautiful and so was the cool weather. It was nice to get in some finger-locking cracks just like the old days in Little Cottonwood Canyon, Utah.
We were lucky to meet a local climber also looking for a partner. Dave was perfect and being a Dad, understood what climbing with kids is all about.
The boys kept busy searching for bad guys and collecting ammunition (acorns, pine cones & sticks).
Still feeling a little under the weather but in good spirits. Axel loved collecting pine cones and acorns with his big brother.
The next day we hiked to the top of Mt. Mansfield at an elevation of 4,395ft which is Vermont's highest point.
It was chilly but Axel was adamant that we took off his sweat shirt. He had enough of this hiking stuff and screamed the last mile to the top.
We had about two minutes at the summit. Axel was one sad baby and was screaming at the top of his lungs. I'm sure most people thought we were pulling out his finger nails and were the meanest parents in the world for dragging him all the way up there. You can see just how he felt in this photo. I guess the over exposure of this horrible photo just adds to the feel of the whole summit experience with a screaming kid!Lucas is an animal when it comes hiking. This boy hiked the entire 4+ miles to the top all by himself. He's the most pleasant boy to hike with and literally talks the entire time. I love that he carries the Jakulewicz trait. :)
We were able to distract Axel long enough to find the summit marker and do a few high fives.
Once we headed off the summit, Axel was over his screaming fit and ready to eat. He ended up sleeping the entire way down.
Talking about Skittles was Lucas' true motivation. The car provided his reward.
Canada photos coming soon.

Janelle,
I miss you guys so much! I think Hayden and Lucas would be great hiking partners, and I think Ben can commiserate with Axel, too.

So glad you had an awesome trip!
