Fishing

Lucas had one request for Grandpa Anderson when he came to visit. Lucas wanted Grandpa to take him fishing...and so he did.

Day 1.
Shopping
Shopping List
- One kid pole
- One cane pole (to be used while Grandpa untangled the kid pole)
- One can of worms

Casting
Practice makes perfect. Fishing
To the pond they went.
Catching
Yes, Lucas really thinks fishing = catching thanks to the stocked pond by our house.
He wasn't too sure about the fish but they sure were fun to reel in.

Axel watched and learned too.
The rain finally ended Day 1 after about 2 hours. This boy is hooked!DAY 2.
Back for more. Fishing is fun when you catch fish the instant the worm hits the water.
Day 3.
Back again, this time with a fresh buzz cut!
Daddy taking lessons too.
Then, the BIG one.
Come to find out, Lucas was terrified of the fish even after three days of fishing. We tried to get him to touch one but only managed to get him to look at it...barely! Nice looking bass, way to go Lucas!
Axel slept through all the excitement.
THANK YOU GRANDPA ANDERSON!

Memorial Day Weekend

First off, check out Mr. Axel. Can anyone tell me how I can slow him down? He's growing WAAAAY TOOO FAST!

We packed up the boys and headed to the Red River Gorge (RRG) for another weekend of climbing and camping. This was a special trip because we got to test out our new 4 person tent! It was wonderful! I know Mike is afraid I'll pack twice as much stuff now that we have extra room. Hmmmm...inflatable matress?

If it wasn't for Lucas, we would not have half the friends in the RRG as we do now. This boy breaks down any barriers of shyness at that camp ground. We have met a wonderful group from Knoxville, TN and Lucas fell head over heels for Charrisa!

She might be a little older than him but she's a true kid at heart!

Bentley is another friend Lucas is infatuated with and keeps tabs on wherever he is.

Here Lucas got to meet the REAL Lago Linda! I think he was a little confused to find out that on her property.

The weather was a little warm on Saturday but we had the place to ourselves so there was no complaining. This was a treat for sure on such a busy weekend. We can thank Daddy for this treat. He woke up at 6am to register us all for a day of climbing at Torrent which is privately owned. They limit the number of climbers and for some reason we were the only ones to sign up.
On Sunday we headed to another quiet crag and only saw a few other climbers. Very unexpected on Memorial Day weekend.

Lucas got in some swings too!

Axel got in some holds!

We came home early on Monday to meet Grandma & Grandpa Anderson at our home! They're here for a week!

Playing Catch Up

Today I realized how many photos I've recently taken and not posted. We have been so busy with Spring...this is climbing season so I'm behind in our non-climbing activities...aka LIFE.

So, today will be a little trip to highlight the past few weeks.

Remember the delicious cupcakes Lucas made and decorated? We saved a few tasty cakes for our BBQ. Erin & Brent Cobb were in town with their two kids the same time Heidi & Eric were in town house hunting. We thought it was a perfect time to catch up and enjoy cupcakes too!

Lucas & Sarah...they were both born in Colorado Springs a few months apart. Lucas' first girlfriend!
See how tasty they were?
How cute is this girl?! Can't blame Lucas for digging this one. Rumor has it, they're going to get married...this is according to Sarah. Sounds good to us, we will have amazing wedding photos with her moms talent and get great in-laws. :)
Don't forget about this big boy, Ephraim is adorable even with cupcake smeared everywhere!
Heidi & Axel getting acquainted. Crazy pilot girl!
The rest of the crew: Erin, Mike, Brent & Eric...you all know what I look like!

Lucas LOVES Heidi & Erin and loves to hear all about their adventures flying the C-17. Pilots are soooo cool! We are excited to have them join us next Fall here in Dayton. Hurray!---------
We had a little play date at my friend Catie's house. Axel got to know a little lady on his own. Meet Miss Adeline!
Okay Mom, she's getting a little close...

Yikes!! MOM - GIRLS ARE SCARY!! Son, learn this lesson early and you'll be better off in the long run. :)And our guitar hero...
------
SUMMER BREAK!
Yep, Lucas had his last day of school. They had a little program singing all sorts of songs and Lucas is quite the performer. He had a ball!!!
Three Green Speckled Frogs...one of my childhood favs!He was so happy and so proud. Just as he should be.Time for awards: Lucas got the BEST KID award! Everyone in his class was a winner...thank you Mrs. Crum and Mrs. Hannebaum. See you next Fall.
------
Wegerzyn Gardens Metro Park is located near downtown Dayton and has wonderful flower gardens and kids area. Lucas was amazed to find a REAL water pump. We were busy for some time!
