Our neighbor, Charile, is a pilot and brought over a little coloring book along with colored pencils and a SHARPENER which of course was the coolest part! Lucas sat in front of the trash can for at least 30-45minutes sharpening pencils that were already sharp and loving every minute of it. He was on a mission! About 30 minutes into it, he looks at me as said, "Wow, I can't believe how hard this is!" I cracked up!
The Bee Movie bites back...
Lucas has learned some unfavorable sayings from the Bee Movie but once we discovered where it came from it wasn't so bad and easier to take. He loves quoting the movie and his favorite quote is, "NO! you snap out of it!" Yep, Lucas learned the word NO! and quickly learned to apply to everyday conversation. Not as sweet as "I do...I don't." He also started running around saying, " WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" in a very mean, stern voice...this too comes from a bathroom scene in the Bee Movie! Hollywood! I'm sure this is only the beginning! :)
His latest phrase is..."WHY?"..."WHY?"..."WHY?"....and boy, he can get you going on and on and on if you let it. He's been really into puzzles lately and we got him one of the United States so he could see places like Colorado, Ohio, Oregon and Georgia. We explained all about it and the next morning he asked a series of questions about where the United States was and WHY so I showed him on the globe where everything was. He's all about the north and south poles and the equator too but watch out, he'll get you on the "WHY?" train if you let him.

Staying Busy!
Well, we have no photos for this post. Mommy messed up the camera downloads last week after a big hike. Lucas rode in mommy's back pack for 6 miles as we hiked a beautiful trail by Cheyenne Mountain. We took great photos and when I downloaded them I accidentally copied over them with my next day's photos! So, we need to go back and take some reenactment photos! We are also going to try to recover them from the camera so I can't take any photos until we do that.
Hiking has been keeping us busy and in shape. We finally got a new kid pack after sending our old one in last March and never seeing it again. It was lost but we got a brand new one a few weeks ago and it's cozy and works really well. This past Sunday, I took Lucas up the Barr Trail in Manitou Springs for about an hour and a half. It was a beautiful cool day perfect for hiking and getting out of the house to give daddy a break.
We had a big weekend. There was a local Bike Festival downtown where we set up a Shaklee booth to promote our Sports Nutritions drinks and supplements. It was another beautiful day and Lucas was able to join me after spending a few hours at home with daddy. He got a free bike helmet and played with the bubbles in the kid area. The big water fountain was exciting too has it sprayed water and rotated in a big circle. To top off the day, Grandma and Grandpa J joined us to meet up with my Uncle Richard and cousins Julie and Jenny and Julies two boys, Luke and Ben. We had a wonderful time catching up with family and exploring the new park!
That evening, we went to our neighborhood summer BBQ for tasty dinner and a play time in the bouncy castle and bouncy slide. Lucas squealed with delight! It was sooooo fun to watch him...I can't believe he'll be 3 in August!
On Sunday after our Barr Trail hike, we went to Firs Station 8 for another fire/bike safety program for kids. Lucas got to go in a mock trailer home and learn all about smoke, fire alarms and how to crawl to the window and down the ladder! He passed and his reward was the super fun bouncy castle and slide. Our good friend, Deb met up with us and shared in the festivities.
Mike is doing well but getting bored at home. He's being really good not to over exert himself but I know it's hard. Lots of movies to watch and a little work to be done is keeping him fairly occupied. He has a check up in two weeks with the specialist in Denver so we should get more details then. So far, we are planning on moving the first week of August. And...we found a family to rent our house! Yahoo! Now we just pray and hope that they will be good to us and the house! Always a gamble I guess!

Slip-n-Slide

It was finally warm enough and not windy (a rare combination around here) so we were able to use the SpongeBob Slip-n-slide! WHAT A HIT! I couldn't believe how brave Lucas was. We set it up on the hill to help him out a little and he checked it all out and went for it. I was going to be the brave mommy and show him how it worked until I felt the COLD water hit me. It sprays water all along the side which was freezing but it didn't stop Lucas! He definitely hesitated each time before going again and would keep telling us, "I'm getting ready!" Most of the time was spent "getting ready" and we have some great videos I'll have to try to post. Summer fun, gotta love it!

Sprinkler Heaven!
As we all know, Lucas LOVES sprinklers and cannot wait for his birthday to come to his house this summer. Each time we are at Home Depot, we have to look at all the different types and he decides which one he wants for his birthday. It changes each time!
We were invited to Carol and Gary's house for an evening BBQ. I work with Carol in Shaklee and Streamline Magic so Lucas is pretty familiar with her and LOVES her house. She is passionate about gardening and has a beautiful back yard full of SPRINKLERS!!!! It's like a "Sprinkler Heaven" for Lucas who plays and plays and plays and would for hours if we would let him!
His favorite nozzle....just like the ones the Fire Fighters use!
Ketchup face! No meal is complete without a gallon of ketchup according to Lucas.
Carol and Gary and a peak of their wonderful back yard. Thank you for a delicious dinner!
This is Wayne, Carols dad who is our newest member to Streamline Magic!
Streamline Magic! Daddy was able to join us. We try to drag him outside as much as possible to enjoy some fresh air and tasty food. He's looking pretty good these days!
Here's the favorite "Cha-Cha-Cha-Chaaassshhhh" sprinkler! "I want this one for my birthday when I'm three in Dayton in August"...it's going to be a wonderful birthday!

First Trip to the Dentist
Lucas went to the Dentist for the first time ever yesterday! I was so proud of him. We talked about the dentist for a few days before so he was pretty excited about the whole thing. His favorite part was the "vacuum" straw that he got to hold all by himself. Here he is checking out the dentist tooth brush...
Using the cool vacuum!
SMILE...they were even able to clean his teeth and paint on his fluoride.
Here's Dr. Souza drawing a face on Lucas' glove balloon. He is wonderful with kids and explained everything to Lucas. Lucas flirted with all the ladies and got a bag of goodies to take home with him which included...small beach ball, glove balloon, stickers, Lucas' tooth brush, Lucas' tooth paste, Lucas' dental floss, his vacuum straw and a free meal from Chick-Filet because he had NO CAVITIES!!! Yahoooo!
