I must interrupt my DC posts to document one of Lucas' "I'm going to show you Mom & Dad!" situations.
To set the stage, it was bed time and Lucas had been typing his name on the computer. He has a little soccer memory game with a certificate you can personalize and print out. We told him he could type his name and then it was time to get ready for bed. He didn't seem to have a problem with that.
So he typed: LUCAS ANDERS
He quickly realized that the "O" was not working so the melt down began. It only gives you 12 spaces to work with. We tried to explain to him that it was not possible to type his full name but he could type LUCAS DANGER.
This was no good, the whining started.
"But I want to type LUCAS ANDERSON!"
We tried to calm him but it was a downward spiral, a big mixture of frustration and tiredness.
Then, he deleted ANDERS and said, "I'm going to type a whole bunch of OOOOs!" So he did and then proceeded to freak out again because that really wasn't what he wanted to do. He then gave up when he realized that he had lost the battle and was not going to get to type his whole name.
In his best tough guy voice, he looked right at Mike and I and said, "That's it! I'm going to stop this game! I'm all done! I'm going to just turn it off and go to bed!"
I told him, "Okay Lucas, that sounds like a good plan." This obviously was not what he wanted to hear.
Then, with more evil-eye he said, "And... I'm going to leave the computer on! (pause) I'm going to let all the power go out ALL night long! (pause) I'm going to keep the computer open too, just like this!"
He was trying his very hardest to make us mad or to get a rise out of us. It completely back fired on him. By this point, Mike and I were trying are very hardest to not laugh or smile but it was impossible. We both busted out laughing. He was really showing us who was boss and in control of the situation. HA! We finally got him to smile and even laugh a little.
Boy, what's in store when he turns 4?!

Okay, that's just about the funniest thing I've ever read! And I'm so glad we just saw him because now I can totally *hear* him saying that!
