Part 9: Final Hurah at The City

We were definitely sad to say good-bye to The City after our last weekend camping there. However, in perfect Anderson style, we MAXIMISED fun and to our relief, the weather cooperated.

We had a full weekend of sun and great climbing. Our friend Des joined in on the fun too. This lucky lady is a strong climber and lives right there in Idaho. She's a friend from back in our Utah days. :)
Des climbing some steep stuff.

My little stinker. He about gave his Dad a heart attack climbing up rocks without a spotter.

Lucas patiently waited for his turn to go on top of Bath Rock.

Axel made it on top too.

It really is a great view.

Way to go Daddy for getting each boy up there.

Meanwhile, Des and Mommy had some alone girl only climb time.

The day was perfect!

We will definitely be planning more trips to The City of Rocks. It's a favorite for sure!!

Part 8: My Bundled Boys

Due to the crazy snow storms, there was plenty of time to hang out. I decided to get some close up photos of my boys. Dirty faces and all!

Enjoy!

Part 7: More City

When not climbing, we were hiking. There is so much to see at The City and we wanted to take full advantage of it.

One weekend turned out to be very bizzar weather wise. It was sunny and warm one minute and literally a total snow storm the next. It all started in the morning with rain. Then cleared up. Then snowed. Then cleared up. Then snowed again. I'm not sure how many times it actually did this but we were able to squeeze in a full day's of climbing between the storms. It turned out to be a crazy but great day!

Playing in the rain runoff, building ditches.
Chris not letting the rain damper his motivation or trip!

Our little cave/hang out when the first couple rain/snow storms started.

Keeping that motivation!

The whole crew was in good spirits.

The first sign of snow.

The next 10 minutes.

A long enough break in the storms for things to dry out and us to move to a new area.

Tribal ? Something...I need to ask Mike.

Notice the sky change.

It hit us with huge wind gusts and lots of snow so we bundled up and quickly ran for cover.

Taken as the storm was breaking.

Half  hour later!

Mommy getting in her mid-storm climb.

It was so fun.

And dry.

Notice the clouds?

Chris squeezed in one more climb before the next round hit.

It was so wild but so fun. We had a blast and really made the most of it. The wind got pretty crazy so we made friends that evening with some other campers who had a nice big wind breaker tarp. Cozy times!

Our 10 Year Anniversary!

Today is our 10 year anniversary!
I'm one lucky lady! :)
What a sweet surprise! Look what I received today from the love of my life. My favorite flowers (ever), which are calla lilies, along with some beautiful roses and a delicious box of chocolate dipped strawberries! I'm not sharing those strawberries...no way, no how! What more could a girl ask for?!?! Well, I would ask for my hubby to be here with me. :) I know he is here in my heart and only a thought away but that would really make this celebration top notch if he were here to cuddle with. :)

Knowing in advanced that he would be deployed, we celebrated together in June. While in Utah for 6 weeks, we made sure to take time to go back to Snowbird, UT to the exact place where we were married 10 years ago. We stayed at the Cliff Lodge for two nights, hiked, ate fancy meals, raced down the alpine slide, soaked in the hot tub and reminisced about our wedding celebration and all that has happened in the 10 years since.

More wonderful views.

3 miles to the top!

The warming hut and still smiling.

Two happy and proud boys!

This is why we took the boys on a 6 mile round trip hike! :) Heehee.
Our view from our room.

He loved it.

Lucas and Daddy.

They loved it too.

Oh, we soaked it up!!! It was a glorious day....weekend....summer!!!

It was a truly special experience and a perfect way to celebrate together. We are so lucky to have each other and cherish our time and experiences together. It's hard to comprehend all that we have squeezed in during 10 years and look forward to many more adventures with a wonderful man.

I love you Honey and boy, do I miss you. Thank you so, so much for such a beautiful gift and your thoughtfulness. I treasure our relationship and can't wait to see you.

Big HUGE hugs and tons of LOVE!!

Love, Janelle
