Washington D.C. (Monday)

Monday:
22. The Pentagon for LtCol Bonilla-Lucia's USAF Retirement Ceremony

Monday morning we packed up camp and drove across town to the Pentagon. We missed the heart of rush hour but it still took us about one hour. We actually made it too the ceremony on time too. No photos of that, they shy away from cameras in the Pentagon.

23. National Air and Space Museum Steve F. Udvar-Hazy Center

On the way out of town, we had one more stop. We had to see the Space Shuttle Enterprise at the Air and Space Museum.

It was worth the stop. If you look close, you can see Lucas in the stroller next to the shuttle. We even found a flight suit with Mommy's old flight patch on it. I used to work at Hill AFB, Utah in the 421st Fighter Squadron (Black Widows) while I was waiting for my pilot training slot. It was a great job...keep the snack bar filled and get back seat rides whenever possible in F-16's. Not too bad for 6 months of "duty." I even painted a huge black widow spider mural inside the flight building. I'll have to see if I can find that photo.
Daddy found so more unmanned aerial vehicles too.

24. Drive Home

It was a quick trip to the museum and then a long drive home. Luckily, my parents bought us a little DVD player for Lucas to watch movies in the car. This has been a life save with all our traveling lately. He's in love with Blues Clues and Word Factory DVDs.

Look at those Red lips!
Nothing better than a Slurpee (or icee if you can't find a 7-Eleven) on a hot summer day!
What a great trip!
