About a month ago, Mike took the training wheels off of Lucas' bike, and they've been practicing. Tonight they had a breakthough...check out the video:

Lucas is pretty solid on flat straightaways, but he's too short to touch the ground while sitting on the seat, so starting and stopping are tough. It's hilarious watching him ride because he just laughs and yells "Daddy, Daddy, Daddy!" the whole time he's riding. Just in a few rides tonight he seemed to gain more confidence and was able to ride down the entire length of our street (1/4 mile?) without stopping. Daddy was drenched in sweat after chasing him down the street (it's humid tonight). Daddy has to stay pretty close because Lucas can't stop on his own without crashing since his feet don't reach the ground.

A Tooth & A Puzzle
We have a tooth! Axel has been working hard and his first tooth finally broke through a few days ago. Getting a photo of the tooth is nearly impossible these days but when it get's a little bigger we may have some better luck. :)

On another note, Lucas received a birthday package in the mail yesterday from Uncle Dan & Aunt Jen. It was a beautiful handmade puzzle from Alaska. (Photo courtesy of Ben Schneider)
The artist is Ben Schneider and he sells his work on Etsy, a wonderful online network for homemade items. If you are looking for an outdoor themed, homemade gift for a young child you should really check out his work! He has mountains, fish, plants and animal designs.
Click here to see his work: Eagle River Puzzles
He also lives in a yurt and has a wonderful blog about their yurt adventures: An Alaskan Yurt Family
Thank you Uncle Dan and family for introducing us to the Schneider's. Thank you Ben, you do wonderful work! Lucas LOVES the puzzle and it's so nice to be able to support a small family business.

Love These Boys!
Lucas received a few Home Depot gift cards from Uncle Eric and Uncle Brian so he learned all about a little shopping spree. We came home with a new sprinkler, ear protection and his very own tool box.
There's my old toddler again...love those cheeks!
To put everything to test, Daddy and Lucas build a bird house.
Daddy's so brave!
Before nap, we had a little extra energy to run off. Lucas was a fast jet and ran around the trees super fast. He wanted to go around 100 times...I think we made it to 50 and it was nap time by that point. Axel had a blast and his new thing is sticking his tongue out. He still loves watching everything Lucas does.
Checking out the grass was way cool too!
It worked, we had one tired 4 year old.
Don't forget bath time. I've been meaning to take photos of bath time for awhile now and need to get some more. The boys LOVE bath time!
AND I LOVE OUR HOUSE FULL OF BOYS!

First Day of School
Where did summer go?
Oh yeah...
Kentucky, New York, Washington DC, West Virginia, Indiana, Illinois and everywhere in between!
It seems a little early to me but Lucas started school this week. What a difference one year makes! There was no crying, whining or meltdowns. Just one happy boy wearing in his new red surfboard shirt and blue back pack. Red is still his favorite color so he picked out the shirt all by himself.
Lucas wasn't too excited about photos but the ones Mike took are just perfect. Look at our little man growing up on us. Kiss attack from Mommy!
We found out that he has the same teacher as last year, Mrs. Crum and her new assistant, Mrs. Weber. They are wonderful teachers and we are excited for the new year. He even got to celebrate his birthday today in class. No wonder he said this today at lunch...
"Mommy, I love school!"
He also asked,"Why is school so short now? It used to be sooo long when I was three!" I thought this was cute...he must be busy if time is flying by because it's the same exact length as last year. The only change is going an extra day a week. We are so proud of you Lucas!!

LM&M Railroad: Train Ride
The birthday continues...
Lucas & Axel got to ride a real train when we went to Lebanon, OH. We heard that Clifford The Big Red Dog was coming to town so we decided to join in the fun.
Here comes the train.
It was even Lucas' favorite color and much bigger than he expected.
A real Train Conductor and of course, a real train sound with his new whistle.
Two big boys getting ready to go.
The train starts moving...
and is a little shaky at times too. :)
We checked out the open air car although our favorite was sitting inside with no seat belts.
After a 30 minute ride, we stopped at a park to meet Clifford. Lucas kept a healthy distance at first to check everything out.
However, he quickly warmed up to Clifford.
Little park fun...
and a story too. Then, back on the train for the ride back. Axel loved the fresh air and checking out the window.
Bubble Gum + New Whistle + Red Train = Happy 4 Year Old!
He's a REALLY FAST train too!
Can't forget about the Caboose.
And, our very own ice cream cone!
What a great day!

Birthday Boy!
Look who turned FOUR! That's right, Lucas Danger is four year old and I can't believe it. Either can he apparently. He's asked me about twenty times, "Mommy, am I really four?...Right now? I'm four right now?!"
Yes my son, you are four and if we're not careful, you'll be a teenager before we know it! We had a wonderful birthday celebration.
Lucas had a few birthday wishes:
1. Eat cake & ice cream BEFORE dinner
2. Cake had to have strawberries on top and look like the one on the cake container
3. There had to be candles on the cake to blow out
4. He made sure to double check that we would all sing "Happy Birthday"...so sweet.
5. Oh, and open presents too!
Mommy & Daddy added a few extra things like decorations, balloons, and a trip to Boonshoft which is the Dayton Children Museum.
Axel left Lucas a present on the couch for early morning present opening to start off the day. He's a great little brother who loves his big brother so much.
The birthday was off to a start!Having Daddy join us was a real treat. When I take the boys by myself, Lucas is a little limited in some of the activities that require help from an adult. Not today...Daddy made it all possible!
He had fun doing it too. :)
I just love turtles.
A little surprise at home.
Balloons too! Mike has been working hard to make sure Lucas knows all about Star Wars. It's working. Half the time he pretends he's Darth Vader and yes, he even requests to watch the Princess Leia movie.
Axel loves this back pack and I actually use it to go grocery shopping now. Axel in the back pack, Lucas in the CAR cart and we have happy shopping. :) Lucas loves helping me decorate cakes and cupcakes, this was no exception. It had to look like the one in the photo. Who would have thought this would be the dream cake for a four year old. I'm glad he showed me the photo because I was on the wrong track when he said he wanted a strawberry cake.
Here's the cake he must have been dreaming about for a year now.
Trick candles...they worked pretty good!
Looks like that cake worked good too. :)
Present time!Lookie there...a Guitar and Microphone Stand and One Happy Birthday Boy!
Part of Lucas' audience...
He hasn't decided if he's left or right handed when it comes to the guitar. I think it all just depends on which hand he picks it up with. :)
Accessories too...thanks Uncle Mark & Aunt Kate.
Our other little performer didn't want to miss out. Uncle Brian should be very proud of musically intrigued boys. :)
Still just as exciting before bed! Lucas performed for the family and sang a wonderful song that went a little like this:
"I'm so happy it's my birthday, I'm so happy that it's my birthday now, I'm so happy it's my birthday" (repeat chorus 20 times).
Lucas, we are so happy that you had a Happy Birthday. We love you so much...ALWAYS & FOREVER!
